President’s Welcome

As president, founder, and faculty member, I am delighted to introduce you to the National University of Quality Systems Management. NGS/U is a pioneer in Quality Systems Management education, where our focus is on measurable, tangible results that give students hands-on, real-world experience prior to graduation.

With a motto of Success You Can Measure, we continue to measure our own success by student career enhancements and the advancement of knowledge and best practices in the private, public, and military sectors. As we move confidently into the future, we hope to assist you in pursuing your own strategies for success.

NGS/U is proud to be a national leader in providing higher education for working adults, building a nationwide community where the education of our students is based on a lifetime of learning. Students learn the skills and knowledge necessary to advance in their chosen field while they also learn leadership, critical thinking and self-confidence. I invite you to join us in that community-at-large which is actively involved in benchmarking modern quality applications, in codifying best practices so that they may be shared with others, and in adding practical value to that body of knowledge.

President and Founder

A Benchmark Institution

Headquartered on Cape Cod, MA, the National University of Quality Systems Management (NGS/U) has built a nationwide presence by taking its programs to students across the country. With a unique approach to education, NGS/U has built a community of students and alumni that spans the country, yet retains a personal and intimate quality typically not found outside a traditional small college campus.

The National University of Quality Systems Management’s diverse student body has a common aim: to enhance their professional skills and advance their careers. NGS/U delivers the management tools necessary to succeed.

Teaching the principles and practices of quality systems management, NGS/U prepares experienced professionals to make rapid and significant contributions to their sponsoring organizations.

The National University of Quality Systems Management typically attracts students who are mid-career adults and working professionals. Unlike traditional business schools which separate student curriculum from student employment, NGS/U recognizes that contemporary life for most students means the harmonious blending of several different lives. At NGS/U, most students work full-time and study full-time.

Our curriculum, faculty, teaching methods, and class meetings are designed to accommodate the student’s complex, structured, and demanding lifestyles while delivering a thoroughly comprehensive and modern education that meets today’s professional needs.

Experience You Can Use...Education That Puts You To Work

Overview

NGS/U Master of Science Degree Programs are designed to provide graduate-level instruction to professionals who either work in the broad Quality field or who hope to acquire the skills necessary to effectively serve in that discipline. A pioneering institution in the field of Quality Systems Management education, NGS/U offers the Master of Science (MS) degree in the following:

  • Quality Systems Management
  • Homeland Security & Defense
  • Environmental Policy & Quality Management

Degree programs are delivered In Residence; Online; and a combination of the two called Blended Learning. Resident courses are offered face-to-face to students in the traditional classroom setting, either one night per week or during weekend sessions. The online format enables students to complete all degree requirements from the comfort of their homes or places of work. Advisement and additional coursework assistance are provided by professors specifically assigned to the group of individuals enrolled in Online Degree programs. Blended Learning includes the delivery of instruction during pre-arranged sessions that include the professor and every student enrolled in a course (whether In-Residence, Online, or Blended), followed by sessions in which students work independently in their respective areas of residence. Regardless of the format, every student is allowed access to our online learning portal (“BlackBoard”) which enables each to review assignments, chat with their classmates, and ask questions of their assigned professor.

A unique aspect of the NGS/U Master of Science Programs is its requirement that students complete projects that demonstrate tangible results of process improvement to the organizations upon which those projects are focused. The Master’s Business Project is completed in teams of no more than three persons who identify areas in which there is a recognized need for improvement, conceptualize an approach to address the problem and subsequently follow systematic steps to solve that problem.

Corporate Students complete the 18-month Master of Science Program with Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate. Military students complete the 12-month Master of Science Program with Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate. Online students also have the option of earning the Master of Science degree in 12 months.

...From Leadership
...I can see the effects that a results oriented curriculum, like NGS/U offers, can have on an organization. NGS/U should be commended for putting together a curriculum that not only promotes academic achievements, but also provides a real return to the organizations that choose to invest in their people.

...From Students
Almost immediately I was able to employ the tools for process re-design to set up the analytical steps toward developing a National Maritime Security Plan.

The Degree Programs

Master of Science – Quality Systems Management (MSQSM)
This program is the hallmark of the National University of Quality Systems Management. In 1993, NGS/U began offering the MSQSM to prepare individuals to assume leadership roles in the discipline. Since its inception, students representing more than 300 major companies have earned the degree. In 2007, the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt certificates were added to the curriculum, thereby allowing students to receive both the MS degree and LSS Certificate upon graduation.

Master of Science – Homeland Security & Defense (MSHS)
NGS/U has offered the graduate certificate in Homeland Security & Defense since the turn of the century. Today, a fully-accredited, highly recognized degree is offered in conjunction with the US Naval Postgraduate School and the Bush School of Homeland Security at Texas A&M University.

Master of Science – Environmental Policy & Quality Management (MSEQM)
Newly proposed and planned for introduction in the near future, the MSEQM is designed to prepare individuals to apply the principles of Quality Management to measures that will improve and preserve our environment. Experts in the field will impart knowledge and guide students through a program that will help them identify environment-related problems as they earn their degrees.

Academic Requirements & Status

Three graduate-level credits are awarded for every course in the NGS/U Master of Science curriculum. Because courses are delivered sequentially, every enrollee is designated as a “Full-Time Student.”
